Mr. Moose has a 'tude
The night I got back from a week on the east coast, we let puppy (Clint Eastwood) out. He starts barking. I look at Mike and say "bear" because I had recently found out he left the trash out when I was gone. He rolled his eyes and went outside to check it out. Immediately he said "holy $&*@"...so I ran out, phone camera-ready to capture even though it was pitch black out. It was a bull moose. This is the rut season so when he swing his head towards us, less than 10 feet away, Mike made us go back inside quickly. We got the dog in too, without a moose, luckily. Here are some shots in the dark as he sauntered away...

Moose!
I always get excited about a moose sighting. Saw a mama and two babies (big babies) last night in my 'hood:

It's that time of year again...
Here we go again! Yummy fish to catch then brine, smoke, filet, can, etc. Mike fished with some friends down in Kenai and got a bunch of reds with a few pinks mixed in.
He stayed up late cleaning them and then got up early and was back in Eagle River by 8:30 am the next day. We went over to the Kaisers' house and started processing.
Smoking:
Now we have a bunch of fish in cans and in the freezer. I am going to try and wait to have some until after the first snow. But we shall see how that goes...

My little mountain climber
Big milestone this week: Stella climbed her first mountain! She's been carried up mountains before but she climbed it this time! We did Baldy in Eagle River. I am so proud.

Fuzzy friends
Stella's dentist, also a local friend, heard where we had bought our house and said "oh yeah you'll get some fuzzy friends up there". Boy was he right! In the past week we have seen three moose (mooses, meese?) and a black bear. The black bear was our fault...he came after the diaper trash. Yikes!
